Yateley's Listed Buildings

Six Yateley buildings were orginally listed pursuant to the Town & County Planning Act 1947 as being of architectural or historic interest. The first list was published in 1952. In 1961 the Church of St Peter was added in List No.2. In 1974 a revised list was issued pursuant to Town & Country Planning Act 1971: five of the buildings orginally listed in 1952 were listed as Grade II, 14 buildings were listed as Grade III, and the church was listed as Grade B. The 1974 list included the White House, listed in 1952, with a handwritten note stating that demolition had been approved 11/1/73. The 1974 list included descriptive 'notes' on each building. The Department of the Environment issued a new list of 14 buildings in 1987, essentially upgrading Yateley Hall to II*, upgrading most Grade III to Grade II and changing the Church from Grade B to Grade II. Since 1987 further 'spot listings' have been made, and buildings formerly listed as 'pairs of cottages' have been given an individual listing.

The 28 buildings listed in the table below have been taken as-is from the current Listed Buildings Register maintained by Hart District Council as the Local Planning Authority:

As this project progresses we shall add links to each of the above buildings in order to assemble the historical and architectural information we hold on each of them. We shall also create links to biographies of some of the people and families who have lived in them.

We are also developing a list of other historic buildings in Yateley which we feel may be worthy of listings:
