Yateley Parish Records

The Yateley Parish Records start in 1636, and are held at Hampshire Record Office, where they may be viewed on microfiche. The Yateley Society also holds images of the parish records from which these transcripts were made, and then checked with the originals where necessary.

For privacy reasons the baptismal and marriage records are provided only up to about 1900.

NB The original documents (deposited at and available on microfiche at Hampshire Record Office) contain additional information, which we have also transcribed.

NB Some Yateley marriage entries are erroneously ascribed to Hawley in the IGI (Hawley 1813-1838 (M109863)). Originally what are now Yateley, Hawley and Cove ecclesiatical parishes were all part of Yateley Parish. The Cove records start in 1844, and Hawley in 1838.

Please let us know through this email link if you use this material and share with us your Yateley relevant research for our Local History Collection. We will be thankful, and it is also in your interest, as we have a lot of other material and possibly have made contact with other family or local history researchers who can help you.

Please note that there is also a burial ground at Heathlands Cemetery, Stevens Hill, Yateley, which opened in the mid-1950s and is still in use, operated by Yateley Town Council.

In the C20 many Yateley people were cremated, particularly at Woking, Aldershot and Easthampstead crematorium.

The immediately neighbouring parishes are or were Finchampstead, Sandhurst, Camberley, Frimley, Farnborough, Cove, Hawley, Minley, Elvetham, and Eversley.
