Dictionary of Yateley Biography

Entries will be arranged in strict alphabetic order of surnames. To find out if a biography of a person has been written, or is in preparation, click on the initial letter in the boxes below:

ABCDEFGHIJKLM
NOPQRSTUVWXYZ

The Yateley Society has already prepared some biographies of Yateley people in the course of preparing the annual exhibitions. Links to these are being created.

There are a considerable number of articles on Yateley people on the new on-line Oxford Dictionary of Yateley Biography. Links will be created to the DNB log-in page for those with passwords, or a Library log-in card. Your Hampshire County Council card for Yateley Library will work. For the convenience of those adding links from anindividual's DYB page the address of the Oxford DNB log-in page is reproduced below in order to facilitate 'copy and paste'

There is an even greater number of Yateley people who appear in the pages of Who's Who. Similar links will be provided in due course.

For many years the Society has provided a service to family historians with Yateley ancestors by searching the Yateley History Project database which can be accessed by the Society's researchers from the Society's website. This database is password-protected for copyright and privacy reasons as explained on its front page. The Society has provided information on a reciprocity basis, and as a result has collected many family trees and photographs. Once these biographies are available on a public website there will be less incentive for family historians to contact us, but we would still very much welcome continuing an interchange of information, through the links on YHP pages.
